Cedar Park City Council has approved a $1.5 million economic development agreement with Aeon Industrial Inc., a weapons manufacturer that designs and produces advanced missiles and the guidance software that controls them. Naweed Tahmas, founder and CEO of Aeon Industrial, addressed the Cedar Park City Council at the May 28 meeting to outline the company’s plans. Aeon’s two primary products are a precision weapon system called Zeus and an autonomous targeting software platform called ODIN.
Aeon Industrial is relocating its headquarters from Austin to Cedar Park as part of a broader expansion of operations. The agreement fits Cedar Park’s stated strategy of positioning itself as a regional aerospace and defense hub, a deliberate effort to attract high-value, technical employers to the city.
For Cedar Park, landing a defense technology company with proprietary weapons systems and software adds a significant employer to its commercial base, diversifies the local economy beyond retail and light commercial development, and signals to other aerospace and defense firms that the city is actively competing for that sector.
If your business is evaluating expansion sites or trying to understand where high-growth sectors are clustering in the greater Austin area, the team at Ambient Array can help you make data-driven site selection decisions.
